The Philadelphia City Planning Commission is eyeing a rezoning plan for Northern Germantown to address issues of parking and increasing density in this flood prone area. The new plan will impose new rules mandating developers provide parking with their projects and adding certain limitations on building. In several urban residential areas of Philadelphia, there have been concerns of parking, so these new rules may prove to be a success in the Germantown community.

Thanks to the advocacy of the Preservation Alliance and many others, two properties in the city were added to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places. 714 Chestnut St., the former headquarters of the Henry A. Dreer Seed Co., as well as 1517 W. Girard Ave., the former pyramid club. The decision was made on Friday August 13th at the Philadelphia Historical Commission meeting.
